A homeowner in Olivia, NC was concerned about sagging floors above their crawl space. During their search, they discovered Southeast Foundation & Crawl Space Repair and gave us a call. The problem area was assessed by one of our highly trained crawl space repair specialists. After a thorough inspection, a customized solution and estimate quote were provided to the homeowner.
The sagging floors above the crawl space were the result of failing crawl space supports. As these supports begin to give way, the floors above can sink and interior walls may crack, resulting in expensive problems in your home. The SmartJack Crawl Space Support Posts were determined to be the most effective solution for their sagging floors. Our support jacks do more than merely halt the downward movement of your floor. The SmartJack System may also be adjusted to try to lift the floor above to its original position.
After encapsulating this customer's crawl space, we installed a SaniDry Sedona Dehumidifier to eliminate high moisture levels. Using a SaniDry Sedona Dehumidifier in the crawl space can reduce the risk of mold growth, odors, and structural damage caused by excessive moisture. It also helps to improve indoor air quality, as it reduces the presence of allergens and dust mites. Additionally, the dehumidifier can help prevent condensation on pipes and surfaces, creating a safer and more comfortable living space.
In June of 2026, Dustin and his crew completed 2,775 sq feet of insulation removal in Mr. Smiths home in Dunn, NC. Mr. Smith had lived in the home for 21 years and began noticing musty smells, which concerned him. He did not go into his crawlspace often and was worried about the effects of moisture, since he lived near a large lake. After his free inspection, we found that the wood under the crawl space had mold and mildew which can cause musty odors and unhealthy air to rise into the home from the space below. Mold can also rot the wood, leading to several issues within the foundation floor that can become costly to repair. Mr. Smith decided he wanted to get his home fixed, because he plans to live there for years to come.
We began the 3-day job with insulation removal and our Soda Blasting technique, which uses compressed air to blast baking soda for cleaning or striping the surface without damage, to remove the mold from the wood. The process is eco-friendly and efficient and includes sealing all vents in the house and then using a nozzle to spray the wood under the crawl space.
Mr. Smith has been having some water build up in the crawlspace because his old sump pump was broken. We installed a new SmartSump system to pump water out of the crawlspace and keep it dry when it rains. We then laid down 2,775 feet of 20 mil CleanSpace Moisture Barrier and Drainage Matting to seal the floors from water and outside conditions. 864 sq feet of SilverGlo foam insulation for the walls were added to prevent moisture and improve energy efficiency.
We placed a SaniDry Sedona Dehumidifier in the crawl space to keep it dry and maintain the perfect level of humidity, preventing musty odors, mold growth, wood rot, and pest infestations.
And lastly, we installed two custom made crawlspace doors for easy entrance and protection.
After the full crawl space encapsulation, Mr. Smith and his family experience the benefits of:
