Fixing Wall Cracks in Kure Beach, NC

Challenge

The floor was sagging because there was not enough support from the floor joists in the crawl space. This lack of support caused stress on the walls, creating cracks.

Solution

We raise the sagging floor with four SmartJacks, and a ten-foot supplemental beam. This reduced the stress on the wall. SmartJacks are adjustable steel columns that lift and stabilize sagging floors. They are attached to the floor joists or support beams in the crawl space, then lift the floor and are tightened once they are adjusted to level position. The photo shows how the crack was previously wide and now it has been closed.
