Southeast Foundation and Crawl Space Repair helped this Jacksonville, NC homeowner when he was looking for an expert in crawl space repair. When it rained or when the humidity was high, their house smelled musty. Snakes were also a problem around the house, and they were worried about an infestation. In order to figure out what's causing the musty smell and where rodents and critters could be getting in, we sent one of Southeast Foundation and Crawl Space Repair's expert technicians. The homeowner was recommended a permanent solution after a thorough crawl space inspection. Open vents let outside elements get into the crawl space, and water leaked through cracks in the crawl space walls when it rained.It was also wide enough for snakes and other critters to get in.Thus, the crawl space was damp and humid, inviting mold growth and pest infestations.The crawl space needed to be waterproofed to prevent further damage to the house.Sealing the vents and cracks prevented water and critters from getting in, and we installed SmartPipe Crawl Space Drainage.It's a clog-resistant crawl space drainage system.A custom design includes holes on the top and front so water can drain from the soil and surface.Water is collected from the crawl space walls and the footing/wall joint using a special wall flange. As part of our efforts to ensure a healthy temperature in the crawl space, we installed SilverGlo foam board insulation on the walls. To prevent groundwater from evaporating into the crawl space, the CleanSpace vapor barrier was installed and sealed with high-performance vapor barrier tape. We installed a SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier to keep humidity levels low and eliminate odors in the crawl space. Our heavy-duty 20-mil CleanSpace vapor barrier was installed on the crawl space floor and around the piers to prevent moisture from seeping into the crawl space through the dirt floor.

Crawl space Drainage System

SmartPipe Crawl Space Drainage System was installed around the perimeter of the crawl space floor to capture water from the walls and floor.

Wall Insulation

SilverGlo foam board insulation is fastened to the crawl space walls. SilverGlo stops air leaks, never loses R-value, and will never absorb or be damaged by moisture.
