Push Pier's to Stabilize a Foundation in Hubert, NC
Challenge
This home in Hubert, NC had significant foundation settlement. This settlement caused the foundation to shift unevenly which lead to multiple large cracks in the exterior walls and porch floors. The damage was getting worse and needed to be fixed before future costly and potentially dangerous damage occurred.
Solution
We permanently stabilized the foundation with 7 Push piers. 3 holes were dug on the front left side on the home, and 4 holes on the back side of the home to expose the foundation footing. In each area, a wedge shaped bracket was drilled onto the side of the foundation which includes a part that supports the bottom of the foundation. Think of it as sliding a chair under the foundation. Hydraulic equipment pushed steel piers into the ground with pressure through the weak soil into deeper solid soil. Once the piers reached a point of no resistance, the bracket was able to lift the foundation to a level, stable position. The deeper soil is strong enough to hold the piers firmly in place, preventing further shifting and wall cracking.
